Day 1

My excursion into the wood has started very simply. Not but a few hours into the travel and I’ve made my way towards the horrid wilderness of my nightmares. So far there is nothing to note short of the pleasantries of the Silver Forest and all its nocturnal sounds and movements. I have chosen to camp in the safety of the forest before venturing deeper tomorrow. As I sit in the small moonlit clearing I think back to the cruel things I said back in the Station, having my solitude to calm me from the tension of it all. Perhaps it is pride or obsession that drives me back out there in seek of that abomination and deceitful monstrosity, but I cannot let go until this is set right. I always listen to my instincts when faced with danger. That night in the Wood, every instinct in my soul told me to leave that lifeless body alone to float down the water. But my guilt overwhelmed my gut and I opted to take the risk and save her. The girl, this Nadja, she was very noble to help me with the situation, and what does she have to show for her kindness? A lifelessness and helplessness in the infirmary. None of this, however, would have transpired had I only listened to my instincts. I will find the source of that wicked magic and I will set this right.

Day 2

My first day into the dangerous wood has gone very slow. After relocating the sight of the encounter with the creature that injured the comatose girl, I was held up in my investigation. I never got this strangers name, and through the course of the conversation, I’m in no hurry to find it. A pampered youth of some kind, she continuously was dissecting my story to fit some little play-date in her mind. Saying my hunt for our attacker was unjustified. She spoke of some sort of care of all the creatures of the world, deadly or not. However, she seemed more interested in being an antagonist than any sort of true druid or nature lover. My opinion leads me to guess the boredom of being a wealthy housewife has torn her to wander dangerous areas and probe others to distract her from her own life, but I’m no expert on marriage. Regardless, after a distantly less than friendly conversation with the pampered wanderer, I traced the track of our attacker while it was fleeing me in my Mutagen form. Like reported it ends at the base of a tree. The trail runs cold there, but I will be investigating the area for something more.

Day 3

I camped at the site of where the creature fled, hoping that perhaps being surrounded by it would somehow give me a clue to my next departure or direction in search of this horrid thing, alas I’ve been left with no such luck. Upon waking and eating, I counted out that I will have four more days of travel on the rations given to me. This however I doubt will mean the end of the journey. There is plenty out here to survive on and I’m no stranger to wild game. My travels have taken me deeper into the wood. Having no clues at the encounter scene I have decided it best to follow the river upstream. If the body had floated down the waters, perhaps blindly tracing it backwards will give me some sort of guidance to finding it. These trees seem to stare at me, the silence and whispers and sounds all only grow more unnerving out here alone. Despite this, there is beauty out here that the Silver Forest cannot match. I caught sight of several creatures unknown to the city streets, none of which seemed to offended by my presence, but curious. But none of them seemed too eager to strike up a conversation or impede my travels, a distant curiosity on their part. However perhaps I will try and make peace with them, if they thrive out here, perhaps they know the creature that attacked us and can lead me to it or give me some sort of insight…more to follow on these attempts tomorrow.

Day 4

This place only gets worse the deeper you delve. It digs into your mind, haunts your dreams, whispers to you during the thick darkness of the daylight hours. I still stride on, having had no luck but a random scaled finger pointing me deeper into these horrid lands from the efforts of contacting the locals that were observing me yesterday. It’s difficult to see in here, the canopy has gotten thicker and daylight seems almost hidden from the mud-licked ground with little grass to show for it. I have preparations in case I run into my attacker in this dense shade.

Day 5

The nightmares and whispers are only getting worse. The darkness of the lands and the ominous distain it has for intruders lingers with its effects on the mind. I find myself with doubts to which I’m capable of achieving my goal out here. My hands are subject to the shakes and unease. The voices in the trees and bushes all whisper that I’ll die out here, and were it not my resolve, I’d be inclined to agree with them.
